OK, so sleep meds are WEIRD!

My doctor asked me if I have been sleeping -

Easy question, right? Not so much.

Between Lulu's waking me every couple of hours and my knee not allowing me to sleep comfortable on either side - I usually end up on the recliner in the front room, sort of half dosing.

But I get up early and seem to function OK- I mean I make Mr. B's lunch, make coffee, drink a cup or 2 then walk the dogs - that's about when I feel I could sleep for a couple of hours.

I don't - but I want to.
So, yes and no.

Anyway, last night was the first time I have used the prescribed medication. A little weary of medication at all, I was cautious. And Mr. B was concerned.
It's the one that states "You could experience an unusual desire to gamble...and to (ahem) be "lovey"...

So, does that mean if I bet I can get "lucky" - I win??

Well, there's no gambling in Utah, and well, the other, is not for public scrutiny, especially in Utah....

But, there was a funny twist.

On one of my trips to let Lulu out, I passed the kitchen and saw some of my favorite candies - Circus Peanuts.
You know those Orangey-marshmallow ones? I like them better when they are a tad bit stale.

(insert little know fact here..."In 1963, General Mills vice president John Holahan inventively discovered that Circus Peanuts shavings yielded a tasty enhancement to his breakfast cereal. General Mills formalized the innovation and created Lucky Charms, the first breakfast cereal to contain marshmallow bits (or "marbits").

Huh, I had no idea.....anyway...

..these were ROCK hard. Something I didn't realize until after I popped one in my mouth. Chew, chew, mush, mush.

My jaw was getting tired. When I laid down I think I had just a weensy piece that I still needed to chew - but I don't know what happened next because that's about when the medication kicked in...I was zonked..
I went out to the front room about 4-ish and at about 7 Mr. B was standing in front of my asking is I was OK - and had my pillow in his hand. He looked worried...

Struggling to wake up and actually focus on not only what he was saying but what he was holding - it didn't register..

"I know you took new medicine last night and I don't think this is blood, it's a funny color, and I can't figure out where it came from and I am worried, and, and and but are you alright?"

"Wha??"

THE PILLOW CASE! It's stained - I don't think it's blood - it's ORANGE for goodness sakes!!"

"Uh... I feel pretty much ...OK...."
It took me several minutes to figure out what he was sooo worried about...Circus Peanut-drool.

Yep, the sticky-orange leftovers. Yuck. Sounds worse than it was. But kinda funny all the same. Imagine if I didn't make the connection and went rushing to the nearest ER...

And no, I didn't have tell -tale stickiness on my face - guess it was all on the pillow case.

So, best advice today is - don't go to bed with a mouthful of Circus Peanuts...and don't take meds until you read all of the possible side-effects...like "could produce mysterious orange-drool while sleeping.." Good thing I wasn't eating Lucky Charms - I could have had a "rainbow of colors"....
Think how freaked out Mr. B would have been then....

Ironically, I'm sitting here at my computer at 3:00AM because I can't sleep and I'm laughing hysterically with my hand clamped over my mouth so as not to wake my hubby. My doxie is looking at me as though I've totally gone over the edge. And, if I don't finish this comment quickly and make a mad dash . . . a poster child for Lunesta AND Depends I'll be!

Blessings!

That is to funny. I was on that med and I even woke up to eat. I had to get off that one. Now the one I take works some nights, but not most. I wake myself up crying in pain. My shoulder and arms are my worst area right now. I think I should just setup and forget!

Yes, they do have strange effects. And one of them is to give you the munchies. Beware! Angies swears that when I take one I speak in tongues!

I see Kentucky Bound mentioned Lunesta...I was just going to write you a note about it. The first ad I saw for Lunesta went on and on about the great sleep you could get. In small print, it said, "May cause drowsiness"....what??? Isn't that what it's all about? Why make a disclaimer at the bottom when the entire ad is for a sleep aid?? I think our cautions have gone "over the edge", eh? Take care and sleep well, with or without drowsiness. Betty

That is the funniest thing I've read in a while. I choked on my tea. Husband was working on work stuff, that's funny, working on work - isn't that what you do with work, work on it? Anyway, back on point husband was working when I cracked up. I read it to him and he was laughing as well. It would have been better if you had a trail of orange sticky from your mouth to the pillow!!!!
