I can't explain things sometimes and it drives me...

goofy.

er.

goofy-er.

than I normally am.

Today for instance. Driving home. Regular traffic. Nothing special on the radio or in any scent I was smelling...

...but all of a sudden I was in the best summer of my life {so far}..

I remember it as my pretty summer. I felt pretty.

And it wasn't a summer of my extreme youth ..I was 30.

Exactly half of what I am now.

It was the summer I met Mr. B. There was pretty music, pretty summer scents in the air

After a particularly ugly time of my life. When I thought I could never feel pretty or loved again.

And he did. Love me. And made me feel pretty.

And I will always thank him for that. Because I was married so young (like in 5th grade..at recess..just kidding.

almost.

I was 17. (might as well have been in 5th grade. at recess..) I had not "dated" much. Any. Other than the starter husband.

So this was new and fun and pretty and exciting and fun and I didn't feel like a 30 year old divorcee with 4, count 'em FOUR kids.

I was experiencing my youth. What "normal" girls feel in high school.

And although it may have twinged at my heart a little not to be that young or that pretty..

I had it. I really did. And I am grateful.

And he still makes me feel pretty.

Wow. Am I lucky or what?

Yeah, lucky :-)

Thank you Mr. B..and Happy Happy Birthday.

And thank you Evelyn, for raising such an incredible man.

You were lucky AND blessed. Most of the 'grass widows', as my father calls me, don't get the second opportunity. I know I won't. Great post!!

Happy B-day Mr. B. and how lucky you are to have found each other...good men are hard to find these days, as are good honest women.

Hope the ribs are mending and fall isn't creeping too close yet...at this age, we need all the summer we can get...caught a glimpse of my shovel the other day and it sent shivers all the way to my timbers..

have a great weekend sister...and brother!

Happy birthday Dad! Sure wish we could be there to help you celebrate. Mom, you and dad are both looking fantastic. He seems to be healing and getting back to his "old" self (would it be "older" self since it is his b-day? ha ha) and you look so awesome with all the weight you have lost. I personally think you look so much more beautiful today than you did in the picture 30 years ago. We can't wait to see you both again soon but can we leave the hospital bed out of the equation next time?!?
Love,
April

I had three children when I started dating my Mister Right twenty years ago. He's told me several times that if they'd been brats, we would never have gotten to the marriage part! Most men probably think like this so, UG, pat yourself on the back for raisin' good youngins so Mr. B could see past the luggage and into your lovely eyes.

Happy birthday, Mr. B!
