COW-A-BUNGA.. Dudes !!!!!!!!!

I, like, totally hit the mother-load....dude. OMG! I am, like totally rockin'!!(can you hear my surfer-valley-girl accent??)

Yeppers, we went to the estate sale today. Mr. B and me.

He got totally creeped-out. He sat in the truck. I didn't...sit in the truck..but sort of creeped-out all the same.

I've been to "estate sales" before where they have gone in and cleaned out, set up and priced the items.

This one was different... I think the family came in from California and I'm not certain it was even close relatives.

They just opened the house up...clothes in closets...stuff in drawers, junk in the garage..like the person would come home any minute and say.... "What the hell??"

Don't think they were close to whomever had passed ..they even had photo albums - with the photos still in them...ick..if you want to sell the binders, at least take out the photos. These were not like antique or noteworthy..just families..Christmases. birthdays...sad...

But, as usual, Miss-Sunny-Pants here managed to find some GREAT finds! (Well, if I hadn't, they probably would have just tossed them....right??)

First, let me explain this...

You know I don't particularly like to iron...but since I sometimes have to, I wanted an iron like my Mother had...heavy and strong. One you don't have to push down really hard on because it's sooo light weitght..all the new ones I have seen are too light. The heavy ones are WAY expensive..so I picked up this one. Works like a charm...

OK, so then there was some old books and an embroidered round thingy..

and this really pretty paper holder - I have it holding some of my favorite magazines...

I've wanted a totally tricked-out lunch box & I think this will be it! I'll give it a shot of Antique White and some ribbons..hmmm..looks pretty (at least in my mind..)

But when I picked up an old shoe box containing old letters and things, I never, I mean NEVER thought I'd get what I did...

Stock certificates, deeds, cattle registrations, letters, a will, stamps, postmarks, bank books, checks from the early 1900's....

Well, just have a look....

This is but a small sampling of what's in the box. I need about a week to go through it all & absorb it all!
Whew - guess I'll say goodnight.... Dudes! You totally rock!!!!
Hang loose...

Great loot!! I'd have had a hay day digging through 90 years worth of stuff! When you think about it, though, it's really sad. No friends or family members to carefully pack your things away, or lovingly choose reminders that they will cherish. Just "here it is folks! Get it outa here!". :(

Blessings!

OH MY GOODNESS COLLEEN!!! You scored some amazing goodies!!! How strange is that, to just open up the door and tell everyone, just start digging we'll give you a price at checkout!! You crack me up with your surfer voice...but cool stuff can bring out the strangest things in us! Have fun with your loot today ~ xxoo, Dawn

You read about "treasure" finds all the time....and now, you have found one! Sorry Mr. B was creeped out, but I know what you mean...sad to see a lifetime given so little respect.

Maybe one of the companies on the stock certificates is a precursor to some really BIG corporation now....what fun! Take care and enjoy going through the rest of the "treasure".

Great finds Colleen! I mean REALLY great finds!
We went to an estate sale exactly like that a few weeks ago. I was even creeped out. The poor ladies clothes still hanging in the closet, towels in the linen closet. It was like we were sneaking around someone's home, hoping they wouldn't come in a catch us! Nothing priced, just take it and make an offer. I couldn't buy anything from that one. I'm glad YOU were able to make the purchases you did at this one! I'm impressed! The papers must have been a blast to go through!

Oh what a great rummage but yeah, it would feel strange going through someone's life. I often wonder about the people who owned stuff and how it ended up in my hands. Shame to think that much of what they thought was special and worth keeping could end up in landfill...can't wait to hear what else you found! ...love Pam
