Grandmothers...

...both Mr. B and I had grandmothers.

Well, of course we did. But what's 'special' is that these 2 grandmothers, his and mine, both maternal grandmothers, well, we neither got to meet them. Ever..

They were both gone before we were here...something that I think is really sad..
I mean, certainly, we both would have liked to have known these women.

And to thank them...

Even though they never knew of other's existence, they were responsible for us having each other.

Circumstances. Happenstance. History. Bygones..

Isn't it amazing that the choices we make in life are felt way beyond our years here on earth? Wow. Heavy stuff....

That's what you get when you find you can't sleep at night...you think of all these things that have no real answers...you know, braille on the drive-through window at the bank...

Anyhow, here is the memories wall hanging with the two beautiful women I am proud share a heritage with...Mr. B's grandmother on the left and my grandmother on the right...

Aren't they lovely? Both so young, so full of promise of what their lives would be like. Wish I knew them...

But in a way, however, I do. I mean, I know Mr. B and his Mother. And I know me - sort of - and my Mother.

I know what other people have told me about them. I make up the missing parts in my head. And it always ends happily ever after. Just like I want it to...

Anyway, thought I'd show again some photos of the vignettes and other little collections from around the room so far..

Sewing vinignette....

Wash day....

...miscelanious birdcage with angel inside (?), doggie sign, birdbath vinaigrette..

...books, scales...(weighning kind, not fish...just in case that's what you were just thinking..)

Oh...and this little wooden plate rack that I got from Ikea..bought mostly because is was like $1.99...and I thought, "Well for $1.99, I'll find a use for it somewhere"..never thinking it would be to hold "dishes"...

I put it on the "rescued" table Mr. B brought home, with some of my favorite decorating books. Here's the side view..

This is on the end table by where Mr. B sits...it's an older photo of 3 of my grandchildren...

Oh, the outfits, although cute, are NOT how my daughter dresses her children for a day at the mall. These were "costumes" from the photographer.

"Hedge" on a shelf...(sounds like a children's book, huh?)

And this is a small photo of Mr. B and me (another great book title..) along with a group shot of my daughter's wedding in Las Vegas (I'll have to tell you about that one one of these days - it was a hoot!)

OK, so enough already...I'm even getting bored with all this show & tell!

I'm loving the pictures of your vignettes! So many wonderful treasures. I'm so looking forward to the day when this house is sold and I'm able to have personal photos and treasures on display again in our new home. Although I'm kind of enjoying the uncluttered look, I do miss the personal touches.

Your grandmothers were both beautiful women - very different, though. One I could picture singing in the kitchen while baking cookies, the other more adventurous traveling on a train, journal in hand recording every sight and sound.

Blessings!
