When one door closes...

...you can then see how really great it is!

No, this is not a post about opportunities..well, on second thought..maybe just a little..

I mean, to have a door like any of these would be a great opportunity, yes?

Just look at those colors!? Wonderful, uh-huh...

I don't know where it comes from, but I have always associated doors with happy times or rememberies..

Screen doors..bangin' in the summer, squeakin' in the wind....

Those old wooden ones..not the ones with the little "shwwuush" sound when they close oh-so-softly.
Nope.  The loud... "are you in the house again? go outside and play"... kind of doors..

And "Dutch doors"..maybe it was Mr. Ed..{a horse is a horse of course of course, unless of course that horse is the famous Mr. Ed} as he spoke over the Dutch door..

..yeah..I know this is not Mr. Ed...this is a cow, people...

Wanded one so badly, when Jeff was a baby, I "created" one in his nursery..loved it..

And French doors? Not necessarily going to the outside, but between rooms - looks sooo great..just like you see  in the movies..

And, oh the doors of Ireland...

bright colors...

beautiful shapes...
Yes, one could say I have a love of doors...

an appreciaton for doors..

an obsession with doors?

I think not..

Have a fun Saturday and don't let any of those doors hit you on the backside as you're leavin'...

Today we both have a thing for doors...and how naive we were back in the day...a talking horse, but wasn't it grand to dream AND to have a TV...and a color TV with more than 3 channels...we were truly blessed back in the day!!!

As this cold cruel world marches on, we relish the old days when times were hard and the little things appreciated!!!

Have a wonderful weekend sister of the West!

I love this post...I too miss the sound of the old screen doors slamming! Now I can't hear my family come in (of course my hearing isn't what it used to be) and they scare me half to death! I look forward to sharing the Artistic Mother journey with you!

What IS it about doors? I too have a 'thing' for doors and when we moved into this house one of the first things we did was replace the 60s ugly brown front door and equally ugly utilitarian
screen door with new "old" cottage style doors. My screen door now
squeeks and bangs - and I love it!

Great post!

Hugs,

Sue

a door holds the essence of a place in tact. when we are at a party, overwhelmed, we step outside for a moment, shut that door behind us, and it keeps everything inside that we needed a moment away from. and when we step back in, that door instantly makes us feel a part of it again, just when we need to :)

I really like doors allot. I do buy stationary sets when they have doors on them. I want to frame them someday. I like when people have french doors going outside.
Love the screen door, it reminds me of a store in Union Pier, MI when I was a little girl. It was one of those cool dime stores back in the day!

"The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves. Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays" . . . ahh, Thunder Road, my favorite Springsteen song from high school days. I always imagined that door and that porch, and of course I imagined me as the Mary that Bruce was singing to!! I was ready to get in the car with him, yes I was!

And I've always, always wanted a Dutch door in the kitchen. One of those old black and white family shows, maybe it was Father Knows Best, had a Dutch kitchen door and friends were always coming and standing on the other side and talking over the bottom half. So what if the house would be full of flies and birds and who knows what, it looks worth it somehow! Love this post!!

Hey, Colleen, I have a blue door. It's a beautiful French blue. I want to get a real screen door but Dan doesn't agree. We had one as a kid. I love 'em. They can't compare to stupid glass storm doors. I also have always loved Dutch, or half, doors.

Wanna see what I've been up to ??

I always wanted a dollhouse. My dad was a carpenter and was asked by one of his wealthy customers to make a dollhouse for their daughter. I...
