Every year, and every day in between, I am on a quest to be more organized.
So far, not so good.
I mean, I think it would be easier to be organized if say, I were...Amish. Or colorblind. Or...normal.What I am is:
Recovering-Irish-Catholic-Recycling-repurposing-reusing-procrastinating-Democrat-living-in-a-Republican-Mormon-Clean-and-Organized-state..
I am soooo not Amish..or simple..or easy..or..normal.
I have much too much in a much too little space. And I love it.... all. Except the dis-organization.
And actually, I have a problem deciding what to call the... items..
So, I have 3.. uh.. 4 files in my filing cabinet:
ThingsJunk
Stuff
Misc.
"Things" are the best..
"Junk" is what I use/can use/might someday use/probably will use/maybe use/ in my art..
"Stuff" is what I don't want to loose..
..and "misc" is, well, everything else.
I don't. Tried it. Once. Failed miserably.
Just didn't hold my attention. So Mr. B does them ..and I don't know nor do I want to know. Kinda like all that car stuff..nah. Not so much.
So do you have any earth-shattering, new ideas on organizing and purging....
.. and becoming Amish??
If you do, let me know. And send pictures. I am a visual learner. And I might just want to file them under...uh..
??

That is why you are such a fun person, you are disorganised but happy about it. Don't change, you are lovely as you are. However if you are serious about tips, here is one:
If you haven't used it in 12 months throw it away or give it away. (Then the next day you'll need it) I'm always in trouble with Mr Hoard Anything Anywhere, for throwing away stuff. He tells guests, "If you stand still long enough in this house, you get thrown out."
LOL!!! Too funny!
I love the "Amish etc""!!
big hugs to you!! ~kimme
My new saving grace has been to buy clear tupperware bins, small and large and then to slap an avery label on the outside. It's helped considerably, but I could use about 20 more bins. Then I bought 5 giganto racks from Home depot and have them lined up against a wall in my basement. Again...I could use about 3 more racks, but it's working. Next step, a garage sale in Spring. Good luck my friend, I know your challenge well!

HA! Loved everything about this cause I can relate..except the part about living in the clean and organized State..they just want you to think that (O:
My problem is I don't have anyone here to tell me to "get organized!"
So I don't...
Besides, there's so much to do on here, right?
But you have fun trying.
Oh Oh! From your list of Self Titles, you may not be as happy as I am, with today.
But...
'Aunt Amelia' is very happy today, and she just has to share it. :-)))
Hugs, hugs, hugs...
Just throw away, throw away, throw away.
Here's my confession. Each time I am in Lancaster County, PA, I seriously want to find the nearest congregation of Amish and convert. I could live that life style in that New York minute. Do they have indoor plumbing now? If not, I may have to reconsider. I wonder if there is an Amish dating website for over 55.
I have yet to actually meet a truly organized person so it may be that they no longer exist. Highly overrated. The kids have to have something to do when we're gone. It'll take them years to get through my stuff.
I have absolutely no idea how a normal person would deal with stuff/junk/things&...
I just used to move it from one closet to the next until I had to go cold turkey:
Step 1: Start w/ a 4 bdrm McMansion in the burbs
Step 2: Bag everything and call Goodwill.
Step 3: Move into a tiny house.
Step 4: Breathe a sigh of relief.
Good luck with it all, Colleen!
I'm not a hoarder but I have the hardest time letting go. My plan this year is to dejunk! I can't live with all this stuff anymore, it makes me feel blue:(
There is this place which I was going to look into when I'm ready to start.

oh i love to organize! I can organize anything, lol. I'm working on our basement right now. We are turning my husbands computer room into a theater/game room. I think it would be nice for him to have a space to call his own where he can sit down and play his video games and unwind without having to wait for Ella to go to bed at night (his games aren't kid friendly with all the shooting/military games). Plus it will free up the livingroom at night so I can watch what I want on tv, LOL.
The only thing partly organized in this house is my craft room, and I'm almost afraid to call it that! You're too funny Colleen, have a special post today for you.
ha ha! i am organizationally challenged, too!
My stuff mingles with the junk.. and the misc is hangin out with the things,,
I'm not sure what to do with it all.. maybe just get a big trash bag and toss it!
