sometimes, I think I have them all fooled...

you know..so that I can get all the benefits?

Am I not being clear??

OK, so lately I think I have been seeing less and less surprise when I say I have a 22..almost 23 year old grandson..

Which is OK..really...I AM old enough to have a 20-something grandson.

And I really don't mind looking my age. Don't necessarily want to look older...but I'm OK with looking like a 60 year old.

And I love it when I can get the Senior specials...10% off dinner...special close-by parking..doors held open for me.....forgiving looks when I cut someone off on the freeway..respectful glances at the gas-pump..shy smiles from someone who is just then thinking about their grandmother..

But what is funny, is that what I see from behind my eyelids, from my point of reference..it not an old{er} person at all....

And I feel like I'm getting away with something..sneaky-like.

And getting benefits.

And that's OK.

So, as they say at the Senior Center...

"OMG! Dude....this totally rocks!"

I only wish the word retirement was in my vocabulary...I guess it's OK, cause I love what I do, but it hurts a little more and I can't do it all day like I used to, but all in all, I can still run circles around my 41 year old daughter...

But I love the fact that I don't have to always look so perfect, that those extra winter pounds aren't gonna kill me...but as a single woman I'm disturbed by those older guys that stare...you know, the ones that are my age...just what are they looking at??? WHAT!!!

My Grandson turned 22 Jan. 1...

Love ya girl and I don't mind 60 either, after all, it is what it is...s

Just love the joke with the mirror.
That is why my husband doesn't want to go to reunions. Who wants to hand out with old people! You really have a 20 year old grandson.
Heck, I am 58 and don't even have a chance of a grandchild anytime soon! I just noticed you links to Breast Cancer and the Animal Rescue. I have them up too but I had made my own. I like yours.

My dad is 85 and says he feels like he's 26. And when I think about it - hey, I feel like I'm about 26!
So let them open the doors for you (and me), and let them give you (and me) the discount - we'll just keep on keepin' on thinking we're 26! :)
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Colleen!

In my head and mind's eye, I stopped aging at 25. Unfortunately, this sometimes causes a huge shock every morning when I look in the mirror and see
57 years staring back at me LOL

The benefits? Yep, they are cool!

Oh dear...I do hope that there are some benefits to growing older. Love that cartoon...made me laugh. As one who is often told that she looks old and tired...well, let's just say that I'm looking for that something good.

I love your mention of someone thinking of their grandmother and looking at you. Just so you know--you're right:) My grandmother passes away this year but I do smile at women about her age if they remind me of her in some way. And ya---reap those senior benefits! I'm about to graduate college and will have to give up the student discounts and all that so...I think retirement is the next time i have to look forward to such things!

As you say looking from the inside we still feel young. Growing old and retirement is fun as long as you stay healthy. Unfortunately things start seizing up and then you start to feel old. Hope you can retire soon and relax more. I can recommend it as long as you can still pay the bills.

You're just a 'spring chicken' compared to me!!
Enjoy these sixties Colleen, they can be so much fun......just think, I'm going on safari in May, who'd ever have thought I'd get to do that! I will have to display my wrinkles and thinning hair - can't take bottles of stuff and hairdryers due to the 26 lbs. baggage allowance - but I'm going to relish every moment and be thankful I'm alive and have such an opportunity in my old age!!!
(BTW - I don't 66, except when I crawl out of bed in the morning!)

Here's to your retirement soon!
Hugs - Mary

P.S. That should have said 'feel 66' - I was nervous including that bit of info. ha! ha! Actually I never mind sharing my age, then at least they don't think I'm an old looking 55 year old!

Age is just a number remember!!

Oh, I'm right behind you gal..
My thing is the discounts...When I finally get the that age, the change them and make them older! I remember when discounts were at age 50! Not now.So next year they'll change to 65! Oh well...
But ya, I actually am glad to leave the changing of diapers and raising of teens behind and enjoy this age. Just wish I could retire too. Speaking of Grandkids, mine are waiting to go to the Museum...better get off here and take them (O:
