...and then I noticed ..tree roots. Probably the same kind of tree roots that cost my daughter $17,000 in repairs to the sewer line..had done this damage.
And I thought..no one actually saw this happen...no one noticed. It had happened gradually. Millimeter by millimeter..while we walked past for all those months and probably years.
My weight gain / loss has been like those tree toots..very gradual. I didn't really notice..at the time it was happening.
Just one donut. One more slice of pizza.
But I found some photos of myself. Reality check big- time. Big, big time.
I never noticed the little bit by little bit coming on..
and conversely, I haven't noticed it coming off bit by bit..but it has.
However, lately I have noticed a bite here and a bite there..and, while not gaining per se...I'm not loosing like I should be either.
So, I need to remember those roots..and what damage they have done...little by little. And I won't let that happen to me.
Not when I have photographic proof..of the gains and of the losses.
And when I start to overindulge {versus an occasional treat}, I will look at these photos and say..
Seriously??

Big pat on your back!! This has to be one of the hardest things to do and more importantly maintain--great post!
You've done so great Colleen! I've always heard that small changes make big differences and you're proof!
I've been slackin' off a little lately and need to refocus. For some reason, I'm an 'all or nothing' person and when I'm good, I'm very good and when I take a break, it turns into a disaster.
You have inspired me to dig out some photos, appreciate what I've done so far and continue working towards my goal :) THanks!
A picture is worth a thousand words! Fantastic!!!
May I ask you to please come over and give a "Thumbs Up" to my Sat. post ,-) I know I'm a bit *frank,* but... Difficult times call for unique measures. ,-)
Gentle hugs...
I can't believe you didn't know the weight was coming off. I struggle daily. But you look GREAT! Beautiful lady. Good work.
Colleen = the wind beneath my wings, or as in this story, the roots beneath my cement pavement!
I started (or rather had my first) platoon fitness session on Thursday and it's amazing how many hidden muscles one's body has...not just the arm, mouth and jaw (and sphincter, but(t) let's not go there) but there are abs, hip flexers, thigh, calves and more... and I FEEL EVERYONE OF THEM EACH TIME I GO TO MOVE!
Thanks for yet another, quippy & entertaining post with a serious underlying message and btw, CONGRATS! You look mahvelous (said only as Ricardo Montalbon can say it)
That's when I started five years ago..when I saw a photo of myself in Hawaii...it was like who is this person...I acutally kind of looked like a guy football player...lol....I figure it takes about the same amount of time to take it off (and keep it off) as it does to put it on....10 more pounds for me...for a total of 50!! YIPPEE !!! P.S. just tried on my size 10 jeans..still tight but I can get them zipped..whoo hooo
What a great analogy. And what a big difference, literally and figuratively. You look fantastic. I felt so much better after I took off the extra weight. This summer, I did gain -- was on the road too much and didn't get in as much walking as I normally would. I am feeling it now -- even if it is only 5 lbs, I don't feel good and my clothes don't fit right. Hubby and I have started walking in the evenings. I am eating right but just can't seem to get the rest of the extra weight to go away, so I know where you are coming from. It truly is all about daily choices and conscious decisions. Wishing you all the best :) Tammy
Fantastic Colleen!! Congratulations on your new body, you look amazing!!!! someday.....
you lookd marvelous darling!!!!! cracks me up everytime I see your guy costume LOL
Oh yes, you can certainly play, but you have to spit it all out. Noooo, you can have one bite...of each. Ha!
it is so true...it happens a little at a time, but it all adds up to one big change! good for you
Colleen, I'm still at the bite by bite and voila.....sizes bigger! Love seeing these before and after pics, very inspirational and motivating for me. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hugs
Girl, you look great!!! and you have maintained for so long now... I'm proud!
Night and day, I am so happy for you. What a great post. I didn't see it happen either and I want those after pictures. I feel so inspired to work harder and becoming the smaller tree that I was!
