????????????? Gotcha stumped, huh.............
Well, although there's really nothing "fun" about them, I happen to have the world's best dentist.
No pain. And I'm a scardey cat at the dentist. Years of bad experiences. Years of weak teeth. Years with no dental insurance when they'd say "$400 to save or $50 to pull..."..A year of chemo. Did a number on my teeth. To a number of my teeth..
Anyway, back to the fun part.
How's this:
1. Got to leave work for almost 2 hours before going back.
2. Stopped by a 7-11 for a HUGE Diet Coke - a rare treat for me these days..
3. Got to see the look on the cashier's face when I told her, in my numb-ness "I jus hab a woot canaaal"
4. Since it was my very-front tooth, I am elated it's still here!
5. Because it was my very-front tooth, my left-side of my face was totally numb- even my brain! Thought it would be a good time to get my nose pierced since it was numb anyway!
(Don't worry - the right-side of my brain was awake and said "Now Colleen..Seriously?" so I didn't ...)
6. Got to watch 2/3's of a funny movie almost upside down in the chair (he has the flat screens on the celling!)
7. Got to hear him tell the dental assistant (and me) that if we could tell him the 8 baseball teams in the playoffs. he'd give us $1000 (or the price this crown's gunna cost)
We couldn't - but he did give great hints and it was fun. We'd get 1 then 2 then struggle for 3 then totally just throw in a team name ("No, Colleen - that's a football team.."...oh sorry..)
8. Went back to work and surprised my co-workers by actually coming back ...to see the looks on their faces and to hear them whisper.."Wow! She just had a root canal & she's back! She's amazing!" ..and.."geeze, she'd no ordinary grandmother, huh?"
Ah youth...they just think I'm amazing...
....they have no idea how much Novocaine it took to make me a Super-Hero!
Always knew old age and treachery would overcome youth and vigor any day.
-me..ah..that's not me...
-me..really..this is me... :-)

Oh man...I HATE root canals!!! I have had my share!! Laurie
I just came over from Joy in Our lives, (betty).
I have been reading your blog for awhile, and just wanted to say, your blogs always make me smile, you have a great way of writing.
Sorry about the root canal, I have never had one, now I know I don't ever want to have one.:)
"Woot canaal"??? You are just too, too funny! Several years ago, when I was still working in an office, I had too much laughing gas at the dentist's office...I went back to the workplace...BIG mistake. I told jokes all afternoon, then heard about it the next day. Wanna hear some? Well, you'll have to email me..not gonna do that here! Love you.
Never had one,but I hate dentist appt. Hope you are feeling well.
Brenda
Oh Colleen! I hate going to the dentist too! Root canals...not fun! Glad you saved your tooth though!
Hugs,
Penny
You can make EVERYTHING sound funny. Glad you survived your root canal and yes, you are a super hero...... because, I, too, went to the dentist this week (on Thursday) to have my teeth cleaned. ONLY CLEANED! and I left work four hours early and did NOT return. woo hoo!!!!
I've had quite a few root canals so I know where you're coming from. I had one done on my front tooth, too, let me tell you that was some experience. My tooth (long story there, but it had to do with it being capped) had gotten so infected that no novicane could numb it...I told the dentist that I'm in so much pain, just do what you need to do and get it taken care of...once the nerves came out the pain left so it was all good...if there is such a thing as a good root canal...anywho, I love the way you look at life...the world is a much better place because of your outlook on things...thanks for making my day!
Happy Pink Saturday! I am a dental assistant and it's fun to read the other perspective! Sounds like you had a nice experience. You were so brave and you are a hero for going back to work! I like your pink slogan and I think I'll go have my cupcake now. ~ Robyn
Root Canals. Ahh yes..I've had many. I just wish MY dentist had had a flat screen on the ceiling. When I lived in Brigham City, and this was in 1967/8/9, there was a dentist there that did have a tv hooked up. I thought what a neat idea.
