What? you haven't heard? Yeah..the whole rapture thing is supposed to happen tomorrow.
Sometime. As in .. time of day..morning? Midnight? Afternoon??
Is it all at once..or does it go by time zone? So, like if I were in Ireland, let's say...would I go first then everyone in California would see that and like.. run??
And, if it is the last day, I'd like a Creme Brulee please. A bowl full..a really really BIG bowl. And Mexican food. And chocolate..oh..and Leatehrby's Homemade Caramel sauce..
Then...if I wake up and I've missed the whole thing..or am left behind...then I can eat right on Monday, right??
OK..my mind is completely worn out now..
So what I was going to say is I think it's time for a confession.. I've heard they can be good for the soul. And when I was a little kid and used to go to confession {before I was a 'recovering Catholic'..oh crap...now I've offended someone..sorry!}
..anyway, I used to feel much better when I was told to say 5 Hail Marys and 12 Our Fathers by the priest behind the curtain..{ Oh, like I didn't know which one he was..or that he didn't know ME..}..and then I didn't have that guilty conscious for eating meat of Friday {does my being a vegetarian now make up for that?? Hmmm ..bonus points??} or for having mean thoughts about some snooty girl in the 5th grade...
I have a confession now.......
I have a guilty pleasure..
I watch Mob Wives on our On-Demand thingy on the TV...
I know I know..a bunch of foul mouthed
...telling all about their hard lives, their petty fights, their work-out routines..make-up tricks! And the clothes...
But in the wee hours of the morning, after Mr. B goes off to work..I find myself saying things in my head like..
"I need coooooofee.." ....and Whoda and whatcha..and boooooss..and mutha...and "I'm goin' wifya to da store.."
I've really always been intrigued by the "mob".."mafia"...."good guys" who as we know, were really bad guys...really....really really really bad guys..
Maybe it was that I was actually born in Chicago..that my whole family on both sides came from Ireland and ended up in Chicago..
..and the stories. Oh the stories..
* had an Aunt (one of my Dad's sisters) who used to work for Al Capone..as a beautician who worked in the back of this used furniture store ( his legit "front") doing the hair of his "Daisies" {read: ladies of the night..}..
*Daddy drove a school bus and used to pick up the kids of Frank Nitti and others..he'd tell tales of the body guards walking the kids to the bus stop..
* After moving to Arizona..the stories continued..Daddy was doing odd jobs for a gangster..(think carpentry and fix-it jobs..silly!) anyway..Joe Bonanno...he even came to my brother's wedding reception..and my brother's Father-in-Law was a Tucson policeman!!
{He took Daddy, Mother and I out after the party to a "night club" and then to breakfast at an all-night diner..I remember him pinching my cheeks and all I could see was this big 'ol diamond ring on his finger!)
{My brother Larry and me..at the reception..no photos of Mr. Bonnano..Hmmm..??}
*My parent's fascination with anything about the "Untouchables"..you know..Elliot Ness and all..
I think my Mother actually has a crush on Robert Stack..the actor who played Elliot Ness on the TV show..
{so, who were the"Untouchables"? The good guys (Feds) or the Good Guys (mobsters??) }
Anyway..if Sunday does come around..I'll probably be setting the DVR to record Mob Wives while I'm in Arizona this next week...and going to my Weight Watcher's meeting with ..
"Forgive me Weight Watchers, for I have sinned..it has been 3 days since I last counted points.."
What guilty pleasure do you have?
....Oh and remembering this blog is rated "G"...for "Grammie approved"... OK?

So one thing--sorry it's not a guilty pleasure--did you notice that the truck notice said it BEGINS tomorrow... So the end begins tomorrow but that doesn't mean it ends... at... the end... or something like that. Too many loopholes man. I don't get it :)
Did ya see my take on all the crap? Building that ARK you've talked about is more realistic :) Funny about the mob stories! I lived in CA for awhile with an Uncle who worked for a mobster. I was just a kid too and don't remember his name now. But he had a big house with a pool in the backyard, that's all I cared about:) My guilty pleasure? (the PG rated one) Knowing Baby Face Nelson is my great uncle..HA! I'd love to watch the mob wives but don't get to :( Have a fun, warm and DRY week in AZ!
In our town, a local tattoo artist is advertising on the radio that she's having a "half off tattoo sale for everyone left behind,stating, "Better Luck Next Time!"
My guilty pleasure? I still watch Brady Bunch.
Great stories Colleen!
I'm a firm believer that the world is going to end, but I'm counting on it not being tomorrow. Course even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Aha! It's taken years and now we finally get down to the skeletons in the closet. This is why I loved teaching writing to high school and college students. I'd assign an essay on family legends or some such thing and I'd get something similar to what you've shared here today. Fascinating stuff. Really.
Now behave yourself so you won't have any explaining to do. ;>
I love how your mind works Colleen, zipping from The Rapture, to The Mob LOL! As for this rapture business, I too wondered about time zones and even if people outside of the US and Canada knew anything about it. Somehow I don't think just North America is 'the chosen people'. LOL
Guilty pleasure? So many, but chocolate probably tops the list
xxoo
I'm tellin' ya, the world is NOT gonna end on my birthday, lol! I love the hysterics people have gotten themselves into though. If you truly want to count down to the End then you have to keep in mind that there is NO year "0", so this means it's actually a year away!
See y'all tomorrow!!
Well I know the world isn't going to end tomorrow but there's a six pack of beer in the fridge I'm trying to finish just in case. One big benefit would be no more weight watchers for anybody, woo hoo!! No work, no taxes - wait what were we talking about... oh yeah, mob wives. As for guilty pleasures..I'm a pretty big fan of Steak and Shake milkshakes. They're half price between 2 and 4:00. (Somebody call Jenny Craig) Have fun in AZ.
You sweet thing. Fascination with the Mob, huh? I can see that. I love reading about serial killers and even sometimes parapsychology. But dang if fattening food isn't my worst vice that I can speak of here. A guy Rick works with thinks the EOTW will start at 2 a.m. (Arizona time.) I have no idea where he came up with that. Set your clock and hold on--or no. I plan to see you tomorrow. Tell Braxton good luck with his summer do.
What a great post!! You are TOO funny!
I remember watching The Untouchables. I must be living a sheltered life, though. I have never heard of The Mob Wives. Sounds interesting.....shades of 'The Godfather?'
Well, I just finished a huge bowl of ice cream, just in case.
This is intended to be informational only! The general consensus (among those who actually believe this will happen tomorrow) is that it starts somewhere in New Zealand at 6 p.m. and then each time zone consecutively thereafter!
So God is planning a Rapture tomorrow, but he's doing it in shifts??? Isn't there enough room in heaven? Or is he a little short on staff for processing???
;>}
Well I can tell you it didn't happen in Australia, where the 21st is nearly over. I didn't know anything about it but if i did I might ave thought twice about cleaning the house today. A guilty pleasure?? ummmm blogging instead of working on a photobook.
-chuckle- Yeah, another End Of The World Day. -smirk-
Can you imagine the crazzzziness of the coming month of Dec., 2012?!? What a Holiday Buying Season that will be. We'll probably be hounded by adds, telling us to show-your-love by putting *This End Of The World Survival Kit* under all your loved one's Christmas trees. Yish......
~♥~
My 12 year old has been talking about this all week. He told me earlier he is gonna miss me at 3 pm. ??? It is now 5 pm and we are all still here! I don't know where people come up this stuff and can't believe there are those who believe everything they hear or read and play right along. Just crazy! I made fudge for a friend the other day and kept some just for me. It is hidden in the freezer! :) Have a great weekend. Tammy
I am so glad you posted today. I needed a good laugh!
My guilty pleasure? Well, I like YOU watch Mob Wives. And don't tell anybody, but I watch The Housewives of "everwhere" shows as well. Yikes!
That should have read "everYwhere" :)
I wish I had some exciting background, but no...yours is great. Oh yes...my great great great grandfather was suppose to have some connection to Smoky the Bear.
Yeah, the worse thing I watch, The housewifes suck me in.lol I should watch it with Sherry!
I ate way too many enchiladas today so even if the rapture did happen, I don't think I'd get off the ground. Coming to AZ? How exciting! You seeing Jo? I'm jealous!
You crack me up. Now that it's the 22nd I am going to have to walk 12 miles to get rid of all that yummy stuff I ate before the end on the 21st.
I went to prom with a gansters son!
We got front row at a club in downtown Chicago without having reservations!
I thought that maybe the rapture did happen but I wasn't good enough to go!!!
A recovered Catholic huh? Yeah, I guess that's what I am too. I didn't have a name to put to it before. As you can see by the posts, you didn't get into any trouble with that stuff like you thought you would. Maybe most of us are recovering.
Lately my guilty pleasure is playing some computer games. It's a total waste of time and creativity. My husband asks if I'm becoming addicted which doesn't help (I only play 1 hour a day at most while he plays games and watches TV for 5+ hours a day and I'M the one who's addicted?). Anyhow, I feel guilty.
Such a funny post I think...I really wouldn't know, cause once you showed that picture of the caramel sauce, all I could think of was "homemade caramel sauce..." yummmm, bliss, happy, joy joy, yummm.
