New glasses..same old me..

Why is it when we think about getting new glasses, we think it will change our whole look?

 {Coke bottle bottoms...computer glasses}

 {regular glasses..you know..to see..??}

I've had to wear glasses most of my life..however, I've only actually WORN glasses for about the past 15 or 20 years..and that first 5 years it was "iffy" at best.

When I was a kid, they wanted me to wear a patch over my right eye, thus making my left-lazy eye stronger.

Didn't work.

Well, maybe it would've if I'd actually done it.  But can you imagine a kid in the 5th grade wearing a patch AND glasses? I'd have been the laughing stock.

A half blind pirate.  In Arizona.

A female pirate..at pirate-ette?

And I would have seen the laughing.  Because I was wearing glasses..

But I didn't..so I didn't.

And that was OK until a few years ago when I started mis-reading stuff..

Sinex Nasal Spray for Murine Eye Drops...

Air spray for Hair spray..

Speed limit 85 for speed limit 35....

Doggie cookie for MY cookie..

Maple syrup for cooking oil....

Hair gel for caulk...just kiddin' on that one..

So, finally gave in.  Never wanted to be one of those people that had to reach for their glasses just to actually "see"...

But here I am.  And it's something one has to have on their face for every day of the year.  365  (or is it 635) days a year?  The. Same. Glasses.

You wouldn't wear the same earrings, right?    Oh, but I do..silver hoops.

OK, you wouldn't wear the same T-shirt..    Oh wait..I do.

Shoes? Yep. I have one pair for winter, one pair for summer and one pair for Zumba.

Watch?  Don't own one..well, one that doesn't work that Sister Kathy gave me 'cos she knew I'd think it was cute..and I hate the whole "on-time" thing anyway...

Wow.  I am totally boring. Dull. Blank-o.

And, mostly late it seems.

I rely on my internal clock...which is always right..never  on some silly daylight savings time and it always the same time-zone-thingie  no matter where I am in the world.  {who am I kidding? I've never been anywhere in the "world" .... except New Jersey ;-D  }

Just like "north" is always in front of me.  And "south" is the other way.  Simple.

East is to the right and west is the left....

I like simplicity. And with all the talk about simplicity..I figure I've been ahead of the curve..a pioneer..a trend setter..

However.... I still wanted a new look for my glasses.  Or me.  I got nuthin.  Same me.  Same look in glasses.   Different day. decade....

{OK..these may be a bit different...}

But hey, I'm always looking north..and it's always fun-o'clock.

Have a fun hour..or 24 if you'd like. Then blog about what you did..we'd love to hear :-)

Oh I don't know...I think you're pretty cute in all of your various styles. BTW, you will love Lark Rise to Candleford. There's just enough humor to tickle your funny bone and enough wisdom to make you nod your head in agreement. (I promised my sister that I'd get some glasses. Guess that she doesn't like my squinting, fetching the magnifying glass or giving up and asking someone else to read for me. That's why I love blogging. I can jack that viewpoint up to 150% and pretend that I can see.)

LOL! Too funny. I wear reading glasses but have to have about 749 pairs in the house at one time to insure that I can find at least ONE pair when I want them. And I usually can't find that no matter how many there are around me. It's just pathetic!

North is always in front of me too. I knew I was right... I need new glasses but it's too much $$$.

I had to wear "corrective" glasses when I was a kid. They were supposed to make my eyes work harder, so I could actually see worse through the lenses. Of course, I always looked over the tops of them so I could see better.....until my mother taped them to my forehead!

You do directions like I do Colleen! I always say, when in doubt turn right, because that's east, and that's where the lake is. How's that working for me? Well, I'm home aren't I!?
Hey you look beautiful in your glasses, love you!

I love your style, simplistic. I too have a summer shoes and winter shoes but Bill wouldn't agree.I got sick of looking for my reading glasses, like Lucy, so then I wore them hanging around my neck but i was forever squashing them flat. I was happy to eventually have a pair that stayed on my face all day. Now I have graduated ones for long distance, computer, and reading. They go dark in the sun. So I don't have to change glasses and lose them. It took a while to get used to them. You are looking great!

It's a shame we only have one pair of "real" glasses, but we can sure mix it up with our reading glasses! I wear contacts for "seeing" and reading glasses for "reading"... I hate the whole thing. Wish I could see!!! I like that north is always in front and south is always behind.... love it! (ps.. I recently wore two totally different earrings to work... was there for about an hour before anyone said anything. the girl who told me was about to pee in her pants from laughing so hard)

Me to. Gotta' wear glasses alllllll the time. If I want to be able to see stuff, that is. Hehhhhhh...

Your glasses are super and so perfect for you. But then, you are so pretty, that it would probably be hard for you, to get ugly-looking-on-you glasses.

But anyway, you have the perfect glasses and ear rings and tops. And you always look SUPER.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Isn't this where I have to say that I *hate* you??? -grin- Nahhhhhhhh... Of course no one could *hate* you!

Mmmmm, how about a teeny-tiny bit of jealousy? How about that? Is that ok? >,-)

Hugs and ♥'s...

I really enjoyed this, Colleen...so may things with which I can identify. And you can believe your faithful readers find you anything but dull! Isn't it wonderful to have reached an age where we're less inclined to impress, and more interested in comfort than style...LOL?

I'm officially adopting your sage advice...simplicity in all things...and may it always be fun o'clock...:)
