Sing along with me."What a difference a day makes....

...twenty-six little hours..."

Wait...what? We don't have 26 hours in the day??

OHHH..that's why I'm always behind..anyway, thanks for the get wells - I feel better today, thankyouverymuch :-)

Anyway, speaking about hours, you know how something sounds soo good..and you'd like it to happen..and all along you say "Oh, that would be so great!" ...and then it happens and you think..

"Oh crap."

Yeah..like that.

Yesterday at work, our supervisor was so happy to report he has FinALlY gotten the "OK" to have us work the much desired "4-10's....you know, what you've been asking about..all this time??"

"WhooHoo!!...no wait..so, what would the schedule be?"...says me

"Well, like 8 until 6:30...or 9 to 7..or..or..or.."..says he.

"OK, so, um..that's crazy-long-days...kinda like days-into-night-time....time"..

"Yes, but you'd only work 4 days..then have 3 off!"..

"Wellllll, I like the only 4 days' part..but I was thinking more like 4-8's..or um...maybe 4-6's?"

'Yeah, well it's good to hold on to your dreams, Colleen, but if you want to be PAID for 40...well..you can see my predicament..right? And, you 3 girls are a team, remember? T.E.A.M....and there is no "ME" in team"..says he

"Well, actually..if you kinda mix up the letters.."

Uh..yeah..so..like how long until I retire?? I mean, I'm really kind of an "8 hour girl"..or maybe even "7 hours 36 minutes girl"...then I'm pretty much..silly-putty..

So, now the question...do I want Fridays or Mondays off? I mean, it is all about me, right??

Have a great if not L-O-N-G day..as I try to get my mind-set into that "4-10's" that will start next week...

..Hmmm...maybe on Monday..and maybe I won't be there...but then it would seem like a long time until Friday...unless..... I can talk him into 3- 13 1/2 hour days.....

Then again...maybe NOT..

10 hour days! That's horrific. You'll be so pooped after 4 days you'll have to sleep all Friday/Monday to catch up. Roll on retirement I'd say. Good luck I hope you manage it OK.I would go for Fridays off.

One of my daughter's friends just took a job where she'll be working 12 hour days for 4 days, then off 3. I still don't see how she does it and she's much younger than me!

the best pictures to go along with the hmmmm,,,, not so best info... 40 hours no matter how you slice it, makes for a long week.... But because I know how much you luvvvvv your job, and you seem to be an optimistic type, you will MAKE IT WORK!!!(that was my Tim Gund impression)

I always wanted four day work weeks. And I'd wouldn't mind ten hour days, but I'd have to start really early .. like 5-3..or 4-2. I can't work past 4. I fall asleep.

Glad your feeling better! Love the pictures!! Not sure how I'd feel about 10 hour days...right now I've just started the job search again with Claire in school full time now. Well enjoy the rest of your week.

Oh my dear....when I worked for the local telephone company 5-6 years ago I did a stint on 4-10's. Not my cup of tea...or coffee...or milk...or vodka...or, you get the idea. It took a couple of weeks (months) to get used to it and I'm not sure I ever got used to it. I LOVED having those three days off, but was not so keen on watching all the rest of my pals go out the door when the rest of us knuckleheads had to stay and work another couple of hours. I was a pooped out puppy! I'm pulling for you and hope you slip right into the schedule with no problems at all. Good luck!

4 - 10's, hummm makes me think of when I got the job I have now. Only 8 hours but it's from 6am to 2pm. The job is 14 miles away and I'm the type of gal that needs some wake up time.....so I get up at 4am, leave at 5:30 and home by 2:30. Guess my point is....you can do anything when you have to. I've done this going on 3 years now and still take naps sometimes.
Retirement sounds good too, but I'll still be working at 90...
Guess you just have a choice to make here, huh. I'd say just do it, take Fridays off and see how it goes. Oh, what made the boss decide to do this now??
Love the pics as always (O:

Oh i used to work 4-10 hour days at one of my former jobs. You get used to it pretty quickly. And it's way much better to have Mondays off instead of Fridays. The reason I say this is because everyone else is working and you are off to go shopping with pretty empty stores, less traffic around town, etc. Because most people when they want to take a day off they choose Friday so Fridays are busier in the stores, busier on the roads. I absolutely LOVED having Mondays off. It's totally awesome! Anyhoo, just my opinion :)

Yes, there is "ME" in TEAM!!! Gad, I hate that team concept. I have never gotten my head around it. It seems like the worst places to work emphasize TEAM the most (and have those damn inspiration posters everywhere.) I'm at my job to make money so I can live my other life, thank you. (Of course, I fake the team thing.)

Wanna see what I've been up to ??
