Well, hello there. remember me??

Wow. Just wow.

We were released from the hospital on Saturday -morning- of course "morning" can be interrupted different ways by different groups..

..to my sister Kathy, morning means 4:10 am- the start to her day.

..to my granddaughter Alyssa, morning means anytime after 12 noon..and sometimes 2pm..

..and apparently to doctors and hospital staff, morning can mean anywhere from 3am for your "morning" pills, to 4pm, when all the paperwork is signed, the transport van is called, the prescriptions are written, the staples (stitches) are taken out..and you start to pack up a weeks worth of your life..

..magazines bought, brought and even donated by April's caring co-workers..

..flowers, candy and cards sent in love and concern..

..pizza dinner ordered by Brandi, Ella and Johnny from New Jersey to be delivered to April's the first night home..

..any number of items purchased to try to make Mr. B more comfortable..from pajama pants to floor-gripping socks ...to bed linens..

..all the "goodies" you may need at "home" (April's home for the time being)..water pitcher, little plastic breathing machine , lotion, body wash, wash tub, etc.

Finally, FINALLY, you hug the nurses, thank the housekeeping staff, wave good-bye and tote what seems to be a small army's total supply truck of stuff home..

Okay, hospital bed rented and set up..check

..sheets and pillows and pillow cases bought, washed and ready..check (thanks April! )

..prescriptions filled, medication chart written, dogs and cats sternly warned NOT to jump on Grandpa like normal..check

So, we're here at April's until he can safely and comfortably (?) fly home on approximately Saturday.

It's been quite a time, but we've all once again been reminded of what's really, really important..

DRUGS..

OK, not really, OK, well really for Mr. B..

Yeah, those things you take for granted..family, friends, body movements..

sleep..

going potty..

showering..

sitting up..

rolling over in bed..

the ability to stay awake for an entire sentence while in a sleep-induced state of being..

the ability to cut one's own meat at dinner..

......and the joy of the bendie-straw!

I have tons of photos but failed to bring a cord to be able to upload them to April's laptop.

So for now, picture in your mind Mr. B's sweet smile and laughing eyes as he thanks all of you for your love and support..

And picture me, asleep in the recliner, next to the rented hospital bed, in April's family room, pillow on my lap, cat on pillow, dog at my feet, my mouth wide open, snoring blissfully..

'cause, that's the way we roll...

love to all,
-me

I'm so glad you're with family who can love you both up. Get your sweet face in the sunshine as much as you can, then give him a kiss and let him smell the summer on your skin. Really. It will do you both good. We're thinking about you and wishing you WELL...
