Thanks, we're all rescues in my "family."

How precious! I've adopted several dogs over the past and they really do make wonderful pets!
Too many people get GREAT puppies and realize they just weren't prepared to take care of them. The pound is FULL of animals needing a forever home filled with love. I agree Colleen.......please consider adoption!

With having to put our faithful companion and pup of 14 years down yesterday, this post is especially poignant to me.
Although Reg was not adopted from a shelter, he too knew he needed to rescue us and did everything right in his 14 years with us.
It's too painful right now for us to consider another dog (we still have out cat of 15 years with us). Hubby, at this time, claims he doesn't want another pet... too painful. But who knows what the future holds...perhaps another little pup wagging his tail saying "You look like you need to be rescued, here I am to save the day!"

Thank-you for sharing this Colleen, it always brings tears to my eyes. There are so many animals waiting to rescue a person, to all reading this today, on behalf of my rescue pets, please adopt. You'll never be sorry.

Yes, this is a good way to adopt...I just wish they wouldn't make it so expensive. In Arizona it is $100 to adopt a puppy or kitten from the Humane Society....I know that includes everything ..first shots and neuter ..but lots of people could give animals a good home but could not afford the initial fee...especially in these times. Just seems like they would rather have the animals in good loving homes than for a long time at the shelter...

that is so sweet... my daughter recently moved to Hawaii (army wife) and is planning to adopt a dog soon. I must share that letter with her!
