I set the eggs in the cold water and turned on the burner..then went & sat down with Mr. B & the pups..
..I COMPLETELY forgot about the eggs..I totally for.got.
A while {turns out to be a long while} later as we sat and watched TV, we kept hearing a noise from the kitchen..
At first we thought it was Mother-in-Law Evelyn fixing a snack or something..
A while later, we heard it again, this time sort of a popping sound.
Mr. B got up to look and being curious, I followed.
When we went into the kitchen, I STILL did not remember the eggs and smelling something, thought maybe it was a case of over-cooked popcorn or something..
That's when I saw the pan on the stove..
Oh. Crap....it was the eggs
Mr. B grabbed them and there was not a speck of water and the eggs were burned. Burned. In their shells..burned..along with a relatively new sauce pan.
I fear, really fear, I am becoming one of those who's gone beyond the "I walked into the room and forgot what I came in there for" type of people.
I could have burned the house down..
I could've..I really could've...
Boy..so I feel bad..
Hopefully this scared me into being more focused..
Hopefully..so I can say, with thankfulness..
crisis averted.

you are so funny...I love the "oh crap' picture......
LOL! Too Funny!
I always forget the eggs too! (and other things lol!)
I don't eat meat either and try to eat a hard boiled egg once a day to replace the protein. I finally bought one of those fancy smancy egg cookers that plugs in. It was fairly cheap and I don't know how we lived without it before. Keeps me from burning down the house, too! You might want to try one :)

Well...I have done that exact thing. And more than once. I'm convinced I've got loss of memory, dementia, alhzeimer's... or all of the above. It's so scary.
Heck no it's not dementia. You're just busy, lady. I did the same thing a few years ago. Never did save my pan and the smell was awful. Did your eggs pop out all over the kitchen? Maybe you should try beans and legumes for protein--nuts and seeds.
Obviously, you have a lot on your mind, my dear. Got a timer? It is one of my best friends. Sometimes I even must carry it in my apron pocket. How did Mr. B take all this?

"Danger, Will Robinson!"
My advice, don't anyone click on it.
Before Colleen gets a chance to delete it.

Who hasn't forgotten eggs on the stove?
But, please set a nice loud timer, from now on.
So glad it was a lesson learned, the relatively easy way.
No meat or poultry? How long has this been in effect? And your personal reason for the decision? Please. I always love to know the "why" of eating changes. Some we choose. Some get chosen for us. ,-)
Your posy has me rolling on the floor laughing. Right after our son was born I was sterilizing baby bottle nipples and forgot about them until black smoke was billowing out of the house. When I called DH at work and exclaimed that "I had burned my nipples", not knowing he had me on loud speaker.... Needless to say it was very embarassing (at the time). Especially when we went to the company christmas party. I would get these looks and giggles. 30 some years later I can now laugh about it.
I've done this with a pot roast, what a disaster! Hope you could save the pan!
You're not alone!!! Thanks for you nice comments. I agree, I like "MY" photos better too. Dont know what this class is going to teach me...we'll see. Look around, it is realllllly hard to find interesting round things.
Aww heck that ain't nothing I'm about 6 years your junior and I started leaving eggs on the stove about 5 years now. I finally gave up eggs after going out side for 45 minutes to garden and walked in the house and there was a thick white smoke engulfing the house! What a mess....it's that getting older thing. Hugs,Pearl
I am only 40, but I do stuff like this all the time.
I am worried now.
Thank God nothing else happened. I have done things like that. I know better now and take a timer with me if I leave the room.
