what's in a name...

...or the genius of re-packaging..

The other day my eldest daughter called and said "Mom, you got me hooked on Yoga pants.."

Yeppers..from Old Navy..

black....comfortable..non-ironing-needed..no zippers or rivets or buttons...or pockets.

We used to call those ....

Stretch pants.

yes, those banes of the 70's housewives..re-packaged into..

Yoga pants.

Then there's conditioner.

Shampoo, rinse, condition, rinse.  Shinny, soft, tangle-free hair...

Cream Rinse.

Conditioner..

Old Navy again..this time it's..compression pants..

skin-tight, seriously-bathing-suit-body-armour-full-length ..compression pants???

Girdle...seriously....

what have you noticed that has been re-packaged?

If you had a figure like that you wouldn't need compression pants. It makes me laugh how they have super models modelling girdles when they don't need them.

Please don't take offence to this but we feel Americans re-packaged the word "toilet" into "bathroom". A bathroom is where you take a bath, shower or wash. I realise that some bathrooms have a toilet too and that toilet is regarded as not a refined word but I still find it funny.

So funny Colleen! I hadn't thought about it before but you're right. What's the saying, "If you wait long enough, it will come back in style"...only repackaged! Now-do you think all of the beautiful plaid, wool, pleated Pendleton skirts at the very back of my closet will make a reappearance?

Love these and I was thinking along the same lines the other day as I donned a pair of my yoga pants...thought these are VERY similar to stretch pants of the 70s that I would not have been caught dead in (I then weighed 120 lbs though, so the 'landscape' was slightly different).

Great post!

Well, you are absolutely right! I hadn't thought about that before.

It's acceptable to wear yoga pants too, right?

I did use cream rinse. Girdle.....will never use one. I know I probably should, but I'd rather have a root canal that put something that miserable on. I can't even stand panty hose....or have those been repackaged?

I too well remember stretch pants. And stirrup pants. As far as re-packaging? I feel like I'm doing that every day. Not always the way I want it!

Old girdles cut up make great sling shots! (I know this for a Fact).

Wanna see what I've been up to ??

I always wanted a dollhouse. My dad was a carpenter and was asked by one of his wealthy customers to make a dollhouse for their daughter. I...
