Dean Martin..

remember him?

I do. But I never really thought much about him or his music when I was younger.

However, since one of my most favorite-est movies is Return to Me..and his music was featured in this movie, I have had a new liking for his voice.


I think it may be because the movie and the music remind me of Mother & Daddy when I was growing up.

The whole Irish-older people and the little dances they were doing..the good-natured kidding..


Yes, it was just like I remembered.

Ehh ....probably not.

I mean, my folks never had a circle of close friends, or bowled, or ran an Irish-Italian restaurant..

And yet, I do associate my family with the characters in this movie.

I do ramble on, don't I?


OK, OK, this is actually about Dean Martin, remember? And how I like his voice?

Especially his Christmas songs..


So for the next month or so, I will listen to Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, the Carpenters and Brenda Lee sing all the Christmas songs I love.



How about you? Who do you hear that takes you back to when you were a little kid and the whole Christmas season was....magic??

Hello my friends...

And so, Arizona was.......... fun...

and sad.


and exhausting..

and invigorating..



It was the hardest trip I've ever taken..

and the easiest one to decide to go on.


I didn't want it to end..

..but I couldn't wait to get back home..

and try to pretend it will be OK if I just don't think about it.


Yet it's all I think about.

Did I say the right things..

Did I say too much??


Will he remember what I whispered in his ear..did he hear me?

How lucky am I to have gone at all..

I rode horse..


I rode in the back of a pick-up truck..


I had lunch with my very first sister-in-law.

I was 12 again when everything was fun..


and nothing would change.


But we know that things change.

And we have to say goodbye.

But it's hard..


and painful..

and I am sooo lucky to have been given this chance...

to tell him once again what an honor it is to be his sister.

before it's too late..


And I am soo thankful..

And I an mad as hell.

Because one of them...
..lives out there....somewhere...near the bottom...sort of...


..which is very close to...

..so ... "see" you all on Monday..

As I let my inner-Arizonian out...

....and now for something COMPLETELY different..

{this is a re-run from a while back..}

As I age, I have to take more & more pills.

One to start my day, one to make me pee, one to give me the vitamins I just peed, one to clam me down. One to get me going.

One to get rid of allergies (I never even knew I had allergies...)

One for memory (or.... was that 2?...) one for the aches and pains I have. One so I don't get aches and pains. One so I can breath.

One so my heart will keep going.

I'm afraid to go to the doctor's anymore because he'll just prescribe another pill. Probably a "pest pill" so I won't bother him anymore.

And I think I'm HEALTHY! Can you imagine if I were sick??

Really don't remember taking all that many pills when I was younger. My tolerance to pills was very low.

I used to get high on Midol....almost made me really look forward to my period! Almost. Aaaaallmost...

Could never drink. Low tolerance there too. That's OK - the only way I liked wine was if I put a little Sweet-n-Low in it...got the "wine snobs" really ticked off.

Used to be able to take Excedrin for headaches - that'd wipe 'em right out.

Can't take that now - if I did I'd have to take a stomach pill to get rid of the stomach ache I got from the pill I took to get rid of my headache.

When the heck did all this happen?

And, have you noticed, they're making these pills the size of horse pills. Do you know how much liquid is required to get one Potassium pill down??

Then the pee pill kicks in............

I have to run potty so much I get tired and my legs hurt, which makes me take a Tylenol. And a vitamin.

Or did I already take that...???

Oh well, I think I'll take a Tylenol PM and a vitamin with my coffee and see if I can sleep-walk the dogs really really fast....before I have to pee again. .....

Things I'd rather not hear at work...

Thought for Today..

OK, so more than the whole "you're fired" thing...'

What would YOU not want to hear?

How about listening in on a conversation at work..you know...one of those boss-comes-out-and-starts-conversing-with-the-troops kind of thing?


"Well, then we'd have it to identify the body.."


"Oh yes..I see where that would be handy.."

"So are they the same tests to do body identification?"


"Yes - the same information could be used to identify the bodies.."


"Wait! What??"

And so it goes..just another day at the office...

In my 45 years of working..(yes, I did start when I was ..uh...2?) I would never have guessed that I'd casually be discussing 'body identification' with my co-workers..

There you have it...and how was YOUR Monday??

And..Colleen, you have been a very lucky girl lately..

Oh yes, boy howdy I have :-)

First, I won this magnificent handmade quilt from Melinda of http://melindasfabricfancies.blogspot.com/ and she hand-delivered it to my front porch..I say my front porch, 'cos I wasn't home..

We'd talked on the phone...

"I think I found your house"..

"Great? Are there 2 little dogs in the window barking at you?"

"no"

"huh..maybe they're down with Grandma.."

"do you have a bear with a welcome sign?"

"no...do you see cream curtins with red flowers?"

"no.."

"do.not. leave the quilt there..that's not MY house!"

Well, she did find my house and when Mr. B came home he found my beautiful quilt wrapped up safe and warm on my front porch..

...and here it is..




..another thing that's amazing about this quilt is that it is the colors of our room! yep, we have orange walls and blue hints..that may sound strange for a room, but it totally works :-)

So thank you again Melinda for your time, your efforts and your talents..we adore it!

Then, Santa came early by way of my MIL and my BIL and SIL...

I'd like to introduce you to "Bubbles"...

so, I don't know how I got so lucky, but does anyone know where I can get some lottery tickets???

Sundays are for the birds.....

...literally..

On our morning walk today. Birds. Lots of them..

..and noisy.

Good noise. Great-to-hear-noise...


I guess they are always there..in the trees..through the branches.


But my view is obstructed at times by leaves, thoughts, or just plain not paying attention to wonder that is all around me, every day..

Sometimes hidden in the leaves..

Sometimes hidden in my thoughts...

..so pay attention.. pay attention..

They're there..singing to us....
