Tall Blondes..

It was a book and a TV special report thingy by Lynn Shear..

about Giraffes.

I admit it..I love giraffes.

I do.

Giraffes and doors. And ribbon..

But this post is about giraffes..gentle, beautiful, soft..sort of goofy..

How can anyone look at these photos an not love them...

Well. I do. Love them.. What animal can you not resist?

Oh, it's not like I can go to the pet store and bring one home with me...

And they don't really have Humane Society Adopt-a-thons on the week-ends..

But, if I could.....

Have a great Sunday..and try to be all giraffe-like...tall, beautiful and soft...and sort of goofy..

When one door closes...

...you can then see how really great it is!

No, this is not a post about opportunities..well, on second thought..maybe just a little..

I mean, to have a door like any of these would be a great opportunity, yes?

Just look at those colors!? Wonderful, uh-huh...

I don't know where it comes from, but I have always associated doors with happy times or rememberies..

Screen doors..bangin' in the summer, squeakin' in the wind....

Those old wooden ones..not the ones with the little "shwwuush" sound when they close oh-so-softly.
Nope.  The loud... "are you in the house again? go outside and play"... kind of doors..

And "Dutch doors"..maybe it was Mr. Ed..{a horse is a horse of course of course, unless of course that horse is the famous Mr. Ed} as he spoke over the Dutch door..

..yeah..I know this is not Mr. Ed...this is a cow, people...

Wanded one so badly, when Jeff was a baby, I "created" one in his nursery..loved it..

And French doors? Not necessarily going to the outside, but between rooms - looks sooo great..just like you see  in the movies..

And, oh the doors of Ireland...

bright colors...

beautiful shapes...
Yes, one could say I have a love of doors...

an appreciaton for doors..

an obsession with doors?

I think not..

Have a fun Saturday and don't let any of those doors hit you on the backside as you're leavin'...

Guess who's birthday it is today..go on..

..guess!

Nope, not mine.

Nope, not Mr. B's..

Okay, Okay, I'll tell ya..

It's my most-beautiful-FIRST granddaughter-ever!

Yeppers, Happy Birthday my Sweetie College girl!

You were sooo teeny when they brought you home..you could fit into the palm of your Dad's hand..

We saw a photo of you next to a small white teddy bear and you two were about the same size.

You had oxygen, and were prettier, but you two were the same size...small and cuddly.

I wasn't there when you were born like I was for Brian..but I remember the phone call to your Grandpa and I living in San Francisco..and the happy happy voice of your very exhausted Mommy..

I was sooo far away and wanting so badly to meet you..to hold you.

Turns out I had to wait a couple of months, but on a very-too-quick lay-over in Denver from one of my stupid necessary-at-the-time business trips, your Mom introduced you to me while we ran from one gate, one plane to another gate, another plane..(this was when we had the freedom to actually met people at the gates..and walk with them while at the airport..you know.."the good old days"..)

What I saw shook me to the very center. You were the most beautiful child-baby-sweetie-girl I had ever seen..even more beautiful than your reportedly "most-beautiful-baby-in-the-world" Mommy had been..

So I got to hold you, still sleeping, and wanting so badly to awaken you, but not wanting to disturb your sweet sleep..

And our love and bond started that day, in a busy airport, and has continued to grow and blossom and mature...just like you have, all the while maintaining that beautiful , sweet, elegance that is you..

..and I am constantly amazed at my great good fortune to be a part of your life..

..and I am constantly amazed at your beauty and grace..your sweet essence ..

..and I am constantly amazed at your maturity, your intelligence, your moral and ethical view of life and everything, everyone that shares your world..

..and I am constantly praying for your safety, your good health, your continuous quest for learning and loving and living..

..and I am smitten with anything "Alyssa".

I love you Sweetie-Girl...Happy 19th year of your wonderful, fabulous life..

Two words......Zum Ba..

I know, I know. I keep forgetting I'm a grandmother of a 23 year old. And a 19 year old..and a 17 year old..and a 9 year old ..and a 6 year old..

I keep forgetting I have not done anything more physical than walking the dogs. Since giving birth to those grandkiddos' parents. Or the invention of the wheel...........I keep getting those two mixed up..

I keep forgetting I am still 45 pounds overweight.

So when my OLDER sister talked about a new exercise class called Zumba, I was all ears. {what a weird expression...."all ears"..and why am I picturing Prince Charles....ick}

She said there'd be dancing.

Music..

Laughter. Fun. Quick. FUN..

"Remember, be uninhibited!!" she says..

Did I mention fun? And exercise in the same post?

Ah, yes ... but the word "fun" is relative.

Fun..as in giving birth... the first time..

Fun as in knowing you have parts moving the same way as the instructor's parts..you just can see your moving parts because they are insulated with ...uh...fat..insulation..

Fun as in looking at the clock and thinking "for the love of Snuggies and all that's holy, is it over yet??"

Fun as in "ohholycrap..I can't turn this quickly..what ARE my feet doing? and what is that slapping sound my arms are doing??"

Fun as in... if this is what it takes to eat like I really want to, then just shoot me now.

Oh wait....it's over..

...and I did it..

..and I liked the music..

....and it was...fun!

Hey, are we doing this next week? I'm there! See ya next week! Bye..

What's that? I might be a little sore tomorrow?

YA THINK???

So, Darla..you Zumba too?

Was it fun? Can you move anything besides your eyeballs yet??

Ah-ha...

OK, so go out there and move something..I'm not being specific..just move...you'll feel better..and after all..it will be..

FUN!

Oh..another two words...kicked butt :-)

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

sooo...I got nuthin'...

No brilliant thoughts..

No fantastic ideas...

No monumental words...

However..{I like 'however' sooo much better than 'but'..}

I did find some fun images while doing research at work for omages from the decades, so I just happened to save them to my own file...

(after some finegleing on the computer..)

Maybe you can use something in your artwork..Let's start with the kids..

You should be able to right-click to enlarge & save the images to your computer.

Hope you can use some of these..it's funny what you can find while actually doing work..at work :-)
