Where were you when the world stop turning..that September day? {originally run last year}

"A fire fighter from Brooklyn approached me since I was wearing a K-9-11 T-shirt provided by a neighbor and fire fighter buddy.

The Brooklyn fire fighter asked me if I was a fire fighter. I told him I was a volunteer K-9 handler with Hal Wilson on September 12th.

The guy broke down, telling me how much of a morale booster the dogs were on the pile.

"One came up and licked me, as if to say, I understand how you feel."

Then he walked away, teared up, couldn't talk any more. This guy was so big and strong he could lift a car." -Anonymous

I never will.......

Time passes but the past never does.

Wow, that came from out of the blue.

And from this OLD mind.

Take care *Grammie*

Very, very powerful images and thoughts Grammie. I dont think the whole world will ever forget the events of that dreadful day and the part that the heroic firefighters and their dogs played.Tear-jerking stuff.

Today is a day that is a harsh reminder that humans can be so destructive with no regard to life! My heart hurts today. The 9/11 tragedy impacted the whole world. I cry and pray for the families and the children that have had to endure the outcome of that horrible day...

This is a day that I do not look forward to. I know that we must not forget ever. I also know that I hate remembering watching that live television coverage of the second jet flying into the building. It was unbelievable then and it's still unbelievable. I cannot believe people are that awful. This day makes me depressed. To tell you the truth, I don't know how I'm supposed to feel on this day. It's not happy; it's not calming; I just wish we didn't have to have it. But that would have been asking too much of the cowards that did it.

All the images from that day come back as clear as if it happened just yesterday. My son was on the Coast Guard cutter waiting on the Hudson River waiting to transfer the injured that never came. For weeks after, at work, I received mail to be sent on to businesses that no longer existed. My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones, and my undying thanks and respect to those who went up knowing they would never come home. God Bless.

Reading all of the different posts about the day has been a blessing. There are so many stories, so many, and each one is worthy of being heard. Thank you for sharing this one and, no, we won't forget.

A beautiful post, brought tears to my eyes.

I don't think any American, Canadian, nor anyone from other countries around the world will ever forget this day. It was, as I read elsewhere, the day the world wept.

Hugs,

Sue

Why did this year seem more painful than the last? I didn't even post about it, it seemed like I needed time to internalize instead.

Wanna see what I've been up to ??
